Our summary of all reviews

  • Performance

    /100

At this level, the performance is very low. This limits the user to usual activities e.g surfing the web, writing emails. Using applications like Word or Excel is possible, though at a very low speed. Gaming and other high performance tasks are impossible. People looking for a secondary laptop or using non-complex applications only will be satisfied.

  • Design

    4.7/5

The laptop design was received with great enthusiasm by reviewers. The crushing majority agrees that even people with the highest sense of aesthetics will be ecstatically pleased.

  • Build Quality

    3.3/5

The build quality is above average providing for the necessary protection of the computer’s internal parts. The build quality should be acceptable for users moving the laptop around on a frequent basis, even after a couple of years. The external parts might however wear out after medium-term usage , resulting in cracks or squeaking sounds.

    • Base Unit Flex

       :

      3.5/5

The laptop chassis is quite resistant, however few imperfections with gaps and cracking sounds might annoy the user. The surface will suffer from some scratches if the computer is not protected during transportation.

    • Hinge Stability

       :

      3.0/5

The hinge, connecting the monitor and the laptop body, is tight and flexible, though it leaves room for improvement. The screen might move a little after opening the laptop or when moving around, which can be annoying but not disruptive.

    • Display Panel

       :

      2.5/5

When opening or closing the screen lid, some minor color distortions will occur on the display. This also happens when applying pressure on the back of the display panel. There might be some gaps between the different parts of the frame.

  • Display

    1.4/5

The overall quality of this display is abysmal. Most users will be far from satisfied with this laptop, as it does not even provide for the needs of office workers, not to speak of designers, editors, or gamers. This display can still function indoors, outdoors use is however a nightmare, as the screen will turn into undecipherable information. All in all: Bad, bad display!

    • Display Resolution

      1024 x 600

This resolution is not high enough for fitting one window fully on the display. This makes multitasking and office work quite a hassle. Viewing highly detailed pictures requires a lot of zooming in order to see all the details on the picture. Low resolution picture and video editing is manageable yet quite unpleasant. This resolution is okay for online gaming, it is however an absurdity for high resolution games. Watching most movies will be accompanied by black bars at the bottom and the top of the display.

    • Contrast

       :

      0.8/5

This contrast is not far from a disaster as the screen does not display black or white, but only different shades of gray. Reading and watching movies will be a real challenge for your vision, and might end in lowering your eye sight with extensive use. Overall, the contrast will not provide for any satisfaction no matter the users’ patience or low demands.

    • Contrast Value

      170 :1

    • Brightness

       :

      0.7/5

This display is perfect for everyone inhabiting a dungeon, where the only source of light available is their computer screen. The one thing you will not worry about is your battery life, as this level of brightness consumes very little no energy.

    • Average Brightness

      116.5 cd/m²

    • Reflections

       :

      1.3/5

The reflections on this screen cause its usability to be close to minimal. Users will only be able to comfortably view the display in either dark environment or with the least possible amount of lighting. Outdoor use will prove to be absurd; patience and continuous focus will be required for any actual and efficient use of this laptop under medium lighting conditions.

    • Viewing Angle

       :

      1.3/5

When you position yourself directly in front of the screen, everything is clearly visible. However, moving your head a little to the side will cause the colors to distort. It is almost impossible for two people to watch a movie unless they seek absolute intimacy. This laptop is recommended for people who demand privacy in public spaces.

  • Sound

    2.3/5

The internal speakers of this laptop provided for a below average sound quality. Low sounds are still recognizable. Music can still listened to although the users should account for the necessity of external speakers when planning to watch a movie with a group. Musicians should not even stop to consider this laptop for their work, and gamers will be disappointed as the sound will be convincing. Even maximum volume will not make the sound experience enjoyable.

    • Maximum Volume

       :

      3.0/5

The peak volume of this laptop is acceptably loud. If relying only on the maximum sound output of the internal speakers of this laptop, watching movies with a group of friends should be manageable. It will be as well quite challenging to clearly distinguish sounds at peak volume if you are at the other end of the room.

    • Sound Clarity

       :

      1.0/5

Most of the sounds produced by this computer will sound muffled or noisy. This makes the clarity quite low when watching movies, or playing games.

    • Lows

       :

      0.0/5

This laptop has Zero bass. The sound has no dynamics and it will close to impossible to differentiate different sound levels. This laptop should be then ideal for users with hearing impairment, or those not needing sound to be integrated in their laptop usage.

  • Keyboard

    3.3/5

This keyboard will be valued by most users as convenient for frequent use. Be it for writing long emails, or surfing the net, most users will be satisfied with the comfort and the speed this keyboard provides for. If your professional life requires long typing hours, along with the highest levels of comfort, then you might want to consider a keyboard with higher rates.

    • Layout

       :

      3.5/5

The layout of this keyboard might not feel comfortable for everyone. Inconveniences such as unintuitive positioning of different keys and different key sizes compared to the standard layout will be encountered. This most likely will lead to typing errors until the user readjusts to the keyboard.

    • Keyboard Size

       :

      2.8/5

The size of this keyboard might not be to the linking of some users. The keys are slightly small, which might result in some typos. The palm rest is designed for people with smaller hands. The keys might be too cramped resulting in frequent typing mistakes and quite a long readjustment time before distinctively improving your typing speed and reducing your typing mistakes.

    • Key Responsiveness

       :

      3.2/5

The responsiveness of this keyboard allows for most users to be satisfied with individual key feedback. The keys do require some pressure for efficient typing, without being either too soft or too stiff for manipulation. Most users will find this keyboard supportive for long typing hours as the keys can be pressed down without any difficulty and they respond back quite fast. Although this keyboard might not be responsive enough for some, the general feel of the keyboard should be within the ranges of satisfaction for most of us.

    • Keyboard Flex

       :

      3.2/5

Although the plastic below the keyboard does flex at noticeable levels, it is still not bothersome enough to interrupt your typing. it is true that your typing speed might decrease and your comfort will not be ideal, but the flex of this keyboard is still not too annoying for most users.

  • Touchpad

    2.7/5

Reviewers considered the trackpad of this laptop as falling a little bit below general standards. Problems with either the accuracy of the touchpad, its size, its slipperiness or its roughness might be at the origin of this rating. The touchpad button does not seem to rank high neither, and problems with either precision or smoothness will make extensive use a modest experience. Some users might already be thinking of having an external mouse within reach, thus making up for the shortcomings of this trackpad.

    • Touchpad Surface

       :

      3.0/5

The reviewers deemed the feeling of the touchpad to be acceptable. It was neither too rough, which would make your fingers hurt after extensive use, neither too smooth, which would cause your finger to slip. It is not a perfect tactical experience, but nevertheless good enough for most people.

    • Sensitivity

       :

      3.0/5

Your expectations of an accurate touchpad should be generally satisfied. The levels of precision and speed provided by this touchpad are quite decent, and for most users, this touchpad will be just enough for daily use. Although the accuracy can be fine tuned in the Windows or Mac settings, the basic accuracy hardware wise is enough.

    • Buttons

       :

      3.0/5

The reviewers considered the button quality of this touchpad to be satisfactory. Most users can rely on the accuracy and the smoothness of this button to carry out regular tasks. Very demanding users might find that the buttons fail to strike the right balance between being easy to click and giving clear feedback, making them a little too soft or too stiff. The button’s clicking sound will be acceptable for most, although sensitive users might prefer an even less noticeable auditive feedback.

    • Buttons Noise

       :

      4.3/5

The buttons of the touchpad offer a nice clicking feedback while pressing.

  • Webcam Quality

    1.0/5

Picture quality could be better – videos end up being quite grainy.

  • Battery Surfing

    4:47 h

The battery life at this level should be decent for most users. You can rely on this battery to spend up to five hours typing in the park, or taking notes during a relatively long lecture. To get more battery life, make sure the energy saving mode is on, close all programs running in the background and set your display brightness as low as possible. If with all those settings you still find the laptop running out of power frequently, you might consider acquiring an additional battery.

    • Battery DVD/Video

      3:06 h

The laptop will last for 3 to 4 hours when used for performance demanding applications such as watching movies. Other tasks such as turning the brightness all the way up, playing music in the background, or streaming online videos will stress your battery as well. Playing games will use the battery up even faster, so if you want to use your notebook for some time, you might want to avoid it all together. Buying an additional battery could be quite expensive, but it will allow you to double the time you can stay without a power plug.

  • Weight

    1.10 kg

This laptop ranks amongst the lightest in the market. This weight makes the computer ideal for travelling or to use while commuting. Carrying this laptop feels just like carrying a bottle of water while hiking. It is easy to pack with your books when heading to the library, or to put back in your handbag after checking your morning emails at your favourite cafe. You might even forget you are carrying this laptop, even with the extra weight of the charger.

  • Noise

    4.3/5

This laptop stays pleasantly silent most of the time. It is well fitted for use in public places when one does not want to annoy others. Most users will hardly ever notice any noise coming from the laptop fan, hard-drive, or any other parts.

    • Noise Idle

       :

      5.0/5

You will not notice any noise when the laptop is idle.

    • Noise Normal Use

       :

      4.5/5

This laptop is silent while doing low performance tasks such as surfing the web, or editing a text. Even in a very quiet environment like a library, any noise from your laptop is unnoticeable, perfect for helping you focus on the task at hand.

    • Noise Full Load

       :

      4.0/5

Noise emitted by the laptop is no problem, even when running high-performance tasks such as watching or editing movies and gaming. In a quiet room, the noise will be noticeable, yet not annoying for most users.

    3.3/5

The laptop may occasionally get too warm. Most reviewers found, at normal room temperature, you can comfortably use the laptop without burning your fingers or legs. The notebook may only become too warm when you stress it, watching a movie or alike.

    • Heat Top: Full Use

       :

      5.0/5

The laptop keeps quite cool at normal use. That’s very convenient.

    • Heat Top: Normal Use

       :

      5.0/5

The temperature on top of the notebook is excellent. It never gets too warm.

    • Heat Bottom: Normal Use

       :

      2.5/5

The bottom of the laptop can get a bit warmer. If you don’t want to use it on your lap, it will be okay.

    • Heat Bottom: Full Load

       :

      2.0/5

There are some spots where the laptop gets a little hotter.
